Samoset Resort, Rockport, Maine
The MEBLN will host an informative workshop at the 2015 Maine H.R. Convention called "Business Leadership and Disability Inclusion". It's creative, it's the right thing to do, and it makes business sense. One talent pool you may not be tapping into is people with disabilities. Maine has a higher proportion of people with disabilities than the rest of the country, and these individuals represent a willing and ABLE workforce. We know the word disability for many employers can be a scary one, so we've assembled a group of leaders from the Maine Business Leadership Network to share real-life success stories. Join David Bartage (Procter & Gamble-Tambrands), Derek Volk (Volk Packaging), Cheryl Rust (Le Garage Restaurant), Avery Olmstead (Maine Developmental Disabilities Council), Dana Connors (Maine State Chamber of Commerce) for this conversation. The employers will talk very candidly about the strategies they use to look beyond individual disabilities in their hiring practices, the partnerships that helped them along the way, and how hiring people with disabilities has increased their production and overall company morale.
